New Gear for Trailwalker

As excuses for buying tech gear go, attempting to walk 100km is a pretty good one!  Even though my wife considers me to be the Imelda Marcos of rucksacks, I decided to exercise that excuse and add to my Berghaus collection.  My normal day-pack is too big for my Trailwalker requirements.  It has the Berghaus Freeflow back system and I find this to be comfortable and effective at keeping my back sweat free.  It didn’t take an awful lot of thought to choose a pack for Trailwalker.  I have now received my Freeflow 20 and as a bonus also bought a new hat!

Where is that photo…

I have only used my new gear for some shortish training walks so far but I am already convinced I made the right decision.  The pack was immediately comfortable, is lightweight and uncomplicated but retains the features I need.  The hat is comfortable too!  I am now really looking forward to using this gear in future walks including Trailwalker.

Update:  I have used the new pack for cycling some reasonable distances.  It’s still really comfortable and is the first time I’ve cycled with a pack and not finished with a sweaty back – fantastic!
