The 2013 G Project semifinalists.

It’s been a pretty epic last couple months, gathering ideas and inspiration from across the world for the G Project. Through the G Project, G Adventures and the Planeterra Foundation seek to assist promising social changemakers as they put forward plans to solve pressing social problems with transformative ideas.

This year, the G Project will award $25,000 to help bring an idea to life. More than 350 ideas were submitted, and today we've announced the 16 semifinalists—the changemakers chosen by you as having the brightest ideas to help change our world for good.

Coming from the US, Canada, Australia, Belgium, Tunisia and more, the 2013 G Project semifinalists represent a diverse group of people working to address the world’s most pressing social issues. One project focuses on creating art from garbage, while another would grant passports to underprivileged girls, and still another would offer hospitality training to female survivors of human trafficking. They range from something as complex as creating a grassroots micro-solar industry, to something as simple as picking up one piece of litter while on vacation. As you can see, our semifinalists cover the spectrum of proposed social change — click here to view all of the semifinalist projects.

In September, four of these 16 will travel to Costa Rica to pitch their plans in front of our judge’s panel at the inaugural Summit in the Jungle, and we’ll announce the winning idea at the Future of Tourism on September 24, 2013.
