Hop on an early flight to Cusco and drive to Urubamba through the scenic Sacred Valley. Stop at the terraced salt pans of Maras and take a tour of the nearby Inca site of Moray. In the evening, enjoy a delicious pachamanca meal, a traditional preparation of meats and vegetables cooked in the ground underneath piping hot stones.
Spend a full day exploring the Sacred Valley, stopping first at the G Adventures–supported Parque de la Papa, a rural Andean community working to preserve hundreds of varieties of native potato. Take a tour of the Inca Ruins at Pisac and Ollantaytambo, and enjoy a delicious lunch at the G Adventures–supported Parwa Community Restaurant in Huchuy Qosqo.
Board a train for a scenic ride along the Urubamba River to Aguas Calientes, at the foot of Machu Picchu. Settle into the hotel and choose from a variety of optional activities like a visit to the local hot springs, or a nearby botanical garden.
Start early today and head up to Machu Picchu to explore the temples and terraces of this UNESCO World Heritage site with an expert local guide. Return to Cusco in the afternoon by train and private bus.
Enjoy a free day in Cusco to explore the city or choose from optional activities like horseback riding to nearby ruins or a cooking class. In the evening visit the Cusco Planetarium to learn about the importance of astronomy to the ancient Inca and, weather permitting, look up at the stars through telescopes.
Fly back to Lima and have a free afternoon to explore the city. Opt to take a city tour of the historical centre or choose from one of the many trendy bars and restaurants that show off Peru's booming food scene.
