G Adventures prides itself on the extensive network of ground operations, tour leaders and local contacts worldwide, which keep us informed and up-to-date on all local situations in which we operate. Our passengers' safety is of the utmost priority and we rely on these networks to allow us to make the operational decisions necessary to keep our trips running safely. We often know of situations on the ground before the media and we are in constant contact with our local offices, tour leaders, local operators, and colleagues in order to closely monitor and inform you of the most current information affecting any regions where we operate.
For further reference, we also recommend that you check your government's travel advisory for any country to which you are travelling:
Also, check out our Safety Guide PDF for lots of great tips on travel safety.
Sri Lanks Protests
The government of Sri Lanka declared a state of emergency as of 24:00 hours of 6th May due to protests that are ocurring across the country. Local police have been trying to control the protests but this has resulted in some skirmishes between authorities and protesters. Travel between destinations have been stopped but the movement of Tourism has been permitted and is not being affected. No G Adventures groups or independent tours have been impacted.
Currently we are not running any trips in Sri Lanka for the remaining month of May and June. We will keep monitoring the situation and update with any developments.
Statement Regarding Russia Tours
1 March, 2022
Statement regarding Russia tours
We have made the decision to cancel all tours travelling in and through Russia until the end of December 2023. Formal notifications to agents and travellers are being sent out. We have made no additional changes to our other tour programmes in Europe. The health and safety of our travellers is of the utmost importance to us and we continue to monitor the situation closely as it unfolds.
In line with global sanctions, we will also no longer accept Russian nationals residing inside Russia on our trips, nor will we take bookings from Russian agencies. We recognize that these sanctions will impact everyday people who may not agree with Russia’s politics but they are unfortunately essential to apply pressure on the country to invoke change.
At G Adventures we believe travel and understanding different cultures could be the fastest path to peace, and we hope for a swift and diplomatic resolution for all those impacted.
